Repentance & Meditation
1998 Retreat by Fr. M.C. Cherian

Need a change in:

1. Mind
2. Heart
3. Direction
4. Life
5. Service
6. Language
7. Environment

  • We have two types of Baptisms, in water and in tears
  • Our biggest weapon is a prayer with tears

Language

  • One of the deadly sins is Anger. If you add a D in front of Anger you get "Danger".
  • Blaming others instead of ourselves causes more problems. Solve your problems by admitting that your faults first.
  • Our most sin is through the mouth.

Environment

  • Colossians 3:18-21
  • LOVE - Life, Obedience, Voluntary an Endurance
  • Repentance is not only in church, but in work, home, and all other parts of our lives.
  • Retreat is a road to repentance.
  • Are you a wondering or a pondering mother/father?
  • Witnessing begins at our home - Mother’s are great examples so live up to it.

MEDITATION

  • Psalms 1:2, 119:15,23,27,48,78,97,99
  • Longest Psalms is 119 - the alphabet of Psalms (Jews teach this first)
  • Psalms are God’s prayers while he was on the cross for about six hours.
  • Psalms 77:12
  • Two books by God are the Bible and Nature
  • Our meditation should be the Word of God
  • Word of God is a two-edged sword (slaughtering/saving)
  • If you make anything more important than the Word of God, it will be a sword.
  • Example of a Camel and a Horse - Camel eats little and digests slowly also kneels. Horse eats a lot and digests fast. We should be like the camel when we are meditating.
  • Revelations 1:3
  • Psalms 1:2, 4:4
  • Pray in silence with heart
  • We should Love, read, meditate and be a Bible to others.
  • Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom.
